Episode 5: Motherhood + Creativity
Show Notes:
I'm a mother and a *creative entrepreneur*. I've often shied away from referring to myself with a title for what I do (digital artist, writer, blogger, entrepreneur). These titles somehow made me feel I didn't match up the definition, but I'm making a change I hope you will too! In this episode, I'm sharing 6 strategies that have helped me grow as a creative entrepreneur alongside my motherhood journey. The thing about creativity is that it requires us to listen and practice. The longer we leave it behind, the more we ache inside over time for not exploring our creativity in any stage of our life.
If you are new to my podcast, thank you for listening for as long as you have! This little space has been an unexpected joy for me and I made the decision carry over the podcast on my Patreon page. For less than a two dollars, you can get access to the podcast and other digital goodies each month while helping sustain Momentora behind-the-scenes.
Your support directly impacts me creative work by helping me do more and continue sharing what I do out in the world. I know this ask will not be for everyone and that is completely okay. I thank you for being here as long as you have – Your support in any way has meant a lot to me!
Mentioned in this episode:
The Artists’ Way by Julia Cameron: Excellent resource for your own creative journey, with week by week prompts.
Correction: I said episode 6 when it was 5 . : )
Creatives I'm Loving:
My Cherished Chapters: My cousin and dear friend, Anaam Sheikh recently started a page to share her motherhood journey and I couldn't be more thrilled. She is naturally gifted in creating meaningful activities for children to foster a wholesome Islamic identity. I have seen her work in local masajid across the DMV and I am so excited to see her journey unfold to inspire more mothers and families. Give her a follow @mycherishedchapters.
The River Creatives: I ordered my copy of the River Creatives coffee table booklet on the Miracles of the Qur'an and it has a source of deep reflection for my family and I. Not to mention, the design is impeccable perfect for our times. Check out all of the journals and stationary on offer over @therivercreatives.
Zedandq: My heart does a little happy jump ever time I see the beautiful, sustainable, and minimalistic designs Zedandq infuses into their work. This amazing team has several lovely decor items as well as learning tools for young Muslims. I love their work and wish I could meet the team in person! Give them a follow @zedandq.
